Alternative and Sustainable Transportation in Greater KL

This information was gathered and published by MESYM from this source.

Kicking off the final quarter of 2013, #BetterCities will be organising a talk on alternative and sustainable transportation in Greater Kuala Lumpur. The broader issue of sustainable transportation involves a myriad of factors including: amongst others public transit reliability and infrastructure, fuel prices, cost of vehicle ownership, et. al. In the mean time, what are the practical ways of encouraging alternative and more sustainable modes of transportation in our city?
At this talk, we are featuring a demo and highlight of two projects we hope will contribute to a new paradigm of community in our city: Jeffrey Lim’s Bicycle Map Project — a crowdsourced bicycle mapping project to test and recce routes to encourage a more cycle-able Kuala Lumpur; and Shaun Lim’s Orbiting, a mobile app to encourage ridesharing or carpooling in Malaysia. The session will conclude with a 30-minute Q&A session.
Day/Date: Sunday, October 13, 2013
Time: 10am – 12pm
Venue: Genovasi, Lot 2A, Jalan 13/2, Petaling Jaya
Light refreshments will be provided.
