The introductory course will present the general condition of planning, design, development and utilization of rainwater harvesting system in Malaysia. The aim of this course is to equip participants with the relevant knowledge and technical competence to estimate water needs and demand, volume of potential harvested rainwater, design, install and maintain rainwater harvesting systems. The participants will get hands-on practice in planning and designing a rainwater harvesting system for residential or small-scale individual buildings, using the newly developed NAHRIM Technical Guide No 2: The Design Guide for Rainwater Harvesting System. Participants will also be exposed to software ‘Tangki NAHRIM’ in estimating rainwater harvesting system’s reliability and efficiency.

Day 1

Overview of rainwater harvesting; Policy and Regulations in Malaysia; Calculating water demand and availability; Rainwater harvesting system: components, Design and Installation; Estimation of rainwater harvesting system reliability and tank size using software Tangki NAHRIM

Day 2

Hands-on – NAHRIM Technical Guide No 2: The Design Guide for Rainwater Harvesting System; Maintenance and water quality issues
