Science Film Festival 2013 Official Launch

The Science Film Festival, initiated by the Goethe-Institute, is a celebration of science communication and enjoys a unique position in Southeast Asia, North Africa and the Middle East: In cooperation with local partners it promote science literacy and facilitates awareness of contemporary scientific, technological and environmental issues through the medium of film and television content. It presents films that explain scientific issues accessibly and entertainingly to a broad audience. The festival selection demonstrates that science can be communicated in an educational, as well as entertaining manner through audio-visual media. The festival has grown considerably since its first edition in 2005, meanwhile becoming the largest event of its kind worldwide in terms of audience reach with 130 000 visitors in 2010, 240 000 in 2011 and 370 000 visitors in 2012.

Locally in Malaysia, SFF 2013 will be launched on 21st November at GSC Pavillion which is also the 1st day of the festival and will continue on until 15th December 2013. Goethe Institute in its 3rd year partnership with the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) will bring the festival films to over 350 schools and about 10 higher learning institutions who are all members of the Kelab Pencinta Alam (KPA) for schools and KPA For Youth for higher learning institutions.
