Adopt a Terrapin!

Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS) carries out two River Terrapin conservation projects in the Setiu and Kemaman Rivers in Terengganu. Through these projects and with the collaboration with the local communities, a maximum number of River Terrapin eggs are secured for incubation. Upon emergence, some River Terrapin hatchlings are released immediately while the remaining hatchlings will be raised for approximately six to ten months before they are also released into the respective rivers.

Every year, we launch our “Adopt-A-Terrapin Campaign” to raise the necessary funds for our River Terrapin conservation projects. As you may well know, we are in the race against time to protect and conserve this critically endangered terrapin, and this campaign gives you the opportunity support us, by symbolically adopting these terrapins 🙂

Here’s how you can help us: Each terrapin adoption costs RM30*, and you may name your adopted terrapin(s). We will furnish you with a digital Certificate of Adoption. We would also like to invite you to attend our annual Terrapin Release, where you will have the opportunity to release your adopted terrapin(s) into the river. The next Terrapin Release event will take place as follows:

  • Date: 6th September 2014 (Saturday)
  • Time: 4:00 – 6:00 pm
