Friends of the Orangutans is recruiting!

Friends of the Orangutans is currently looking to recruit a full time, highly passionate and motivated Malaysian to join us in preserving our national heritage, the orangutan. If you feel strongly towards animal welfare and want to take action, this is a unique opportunity to join one of Malaysia’s most active groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate and run campaigns, projects, awareness raising activities
  • Conduct Investigations
  • Write news releases, letters to the media for publishing
  • Communicate with media outlets, conduct interviews
  • Communicate with government agencies, zoos, other NGOs, etc
  • Research, identify and coordinate fundraising activities
  • Carry out tasks to ensure smooth operations of the organization
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the director

Requirements:

  • Fervent passion and beliefs in animal rights and environmental issues is a MUST
  • BRAVE, meticulous and consistent approach to work, and ability to produce quality results
  • Experience in conservation and activism work would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
  • Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and meet deadlines, with limited supervision
  • Ability to make sound, independent judgments and decisions
  • Willing to relocate within Malaysia and travel, including outside of Malaysia
  • Willing to work long hours, weekend and public holidays
  • Computer proficient
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
  • Applicant must be a Malaysian citizen
  • Full time position only
