The Bar Council Committee on Orang Asli Rights (“COAR”) is organising its biennial Charity Fundraising Dinner in conjunction with International Human Rights Day. Through this dinner, COAR seeks to create awareness and education on the rights of the Orang Asli in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year’s event will focus on the basic needs and rights of Peninsular Malaysia’s indigenous minority, better known as “Orang Asli”.

The Bar Council has for years been advocating the rights of the Orang Asli and have endeavoured to ensure that just laws, policies and practices are in place to affirm and protect the rights of the Orang Asli. The proceeds the #getAsli Fundraising Dinner are aimed at continuing this important work.

Most Orang Asli communities live in remote and less-developed parts of Peninsular Malaysia. The funds raised will be used to assist with community development and upliftment, non-formal education of women and children, leadership training, securing the Orang Asli’s livelihood, and strengthening their traditional culture. Additionally, the proceeds will be used to support the ancillary work of COAR in its role as an advocate of the Orang Asli’s rights. The #getAsli Fundraising Dinner will include performances by the Orang Asli and a presentation about the Orang Asli. Bar Council Malaysia is honoured and proud to be the host of this prestigious fundraising event.

The Bar Council Malaysia invite you to be a part of this meaningful endeavour, by providing financial support by the following methods:
