The fight to save Taman Rimba Kiara is still very much on-going. Due to the sensitivity of the issue, I would like to apologize on behalf of The Resident Association that not every progress can be shared openly through Facebook.

However I would like to appeal to all residents of TTDI to join our PASSIVE PROTEST in the form of a Merdeka Picnic at Taman Rimba Kiara on the 21st of August from 3pm to 6pm. Bring your own food and share with each other.

While we have our picnic, we can also catch some Pokemon. There are some rare pokemon here in Taman Rimba Kiara as well as a Dragontini nest.

See you this Sunday. And if you see me and would like to suggest how to make TTDI better, I am all ears.

Indah Water Plant Visit

Indah Water Plant Visit
http://sarap.org.my/indah-water-plant-visit/

Each time we shower, flush the toilet, prepare our meals as well as do our dishes and laundry, we contribute to the 65 million litres of wastewater discharged every day. This equates to 23.7 billion litres of wastewater that has to be treated each year.

Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), the organisation responsible for managing and providing sewerage services to Malaysians, ensures proper treatment of the effluent before it is released into rivers, our vital water resource and source of our drinking water.

In doing so, IWK helps to reclaim polluted water for non-potable and industrial uses, which in turn relieves the burden on our potable water supply. (Non-potable water is not safe for consumption but suitable for use in the garden, to wash cars or to flush toilets.)

IWK is already supplying treated wastewater to several local authorities for their landscaping needs, thereby eliminating their dependence on potable water that can be reserved for drinking.

Human Rights Lecture: Sustainable Development & Human Rights

Human Rights Lecture: Sustainable Development & Human Rights

  • Date: Oct 1, 2015 (Thursday)
  • Time: 3pm to 5pm
  • Venue: Brickfields Asia College (PJ Campus), PJ

Sustainable development and human rights are intricately linked. The respect for human rights has been recognized as a prerequisite for development. If people’s fundamental human rights are threatened, if people lack the basic human rights of food, health, education, shelter, freedom of expression and the right to political participation, their ability to participate in sustainable development is hindered. Therefore, strategies and policies regarding human rights and development need to be integrated to create a human rights-based approach to sustainable development that will deliver benefits to all communities.

Speaker

Dr Lin Mui Kiang, Proham Hon member is currently consulting for UNICEF in child rights protection and promotion projects.

Dr Lin was the United Nations Coordination Specialist for Malaysia. Dr Lin also has experience in development planning having worked for  twelve years in the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Ministers Department.
