The training course will expose the participants to the principles and practices of environmentally sound management of hazardous waste which include understanding of the waste management hierarchy; waste minimisation, reduction and recovery; best practices of hazardous management and the understanding of the hazardous waste current and emerging challenges both at local and international levels. It will also provide guidance to a comprehensive understanding of the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005 and hazardous waste management policies in Malaysia.

This Forum will focus on the New Clean Air Regulations 2014, as well as addressing best available technologies on air pollution control, continuous emission monitoring systems available in the market and performance monitoring requirements. The introductory course will present the general condition of planning, design, development and utilization of rainwater harvesting system in Malaysia. The aim of this course is to equip participants with the relevant knowledge and technical competence to estimate water needs and demand, volume of potential harvested rainwater, design, install and maintain rainwater harvesting systems. The participants will get hands-on practice in planning and designing a rainwater harvesting system for residential or small-scale individual buildings, using the newly developed NAHRIM Technical Guide No 2: The Design Guide for Rainwater Harvesting System. Participants will also be exposed to software ‘Tangki NAHRIM’ in estimating rainwater harvesting system’s reliability and efficiency.
