Malaysia Youth Public Policy Series on 11th Malaysia Plan: Towards a First- World Mentality Nation

Invitation to Participate at CPPS’ Malaysia Youth Public Policy Series on 11th Malaysia Plan: Towards a First- World Mentality Nation.

Greetings from the Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS)!

We are pleased to inform you that CPPS will be organising a roundtable on the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) on:

Wednesday, 23rd July 2014, from 10am – 5:00pm at Bangunan Parlimen (Malaysian Houses of Parliament).

It is important to engage the youth’s voice in all levels of policy making. As such, the aim of the day’s discussions will be to gather together youth from different organisations and affiliations to provide comments and recommendations that will be submitted to the Government to be included in the 11MP. It is important to us that the youth voice is fairly represented in the Plan’s architecture.

CPPS, through our 11MP working policy paper, has identified four main themes (Liveable Cities, Convergence in Rural Communities, Resilient Governance, and a Competitive Market Economy) to focus on in implementing the new Plan. We hope this will serve to humanise the policy debate and allow Malaysia to adopt a first-world mentality in realising Vision 2020. We believe that it is not enough to define a nation as achieving high-income status through per-capita income of US$15,000. There must also be adherence to inclusive growth, fairness and justice, protection of the environment and equality of opportunity in education, to name just a few.

CPPS is targeting those below 40 years of age to participate on the day. We look forward to hearing your views and engaging in a productive discussion on the 11th Malaysia Plan. Please forward this invitation on to your youth network if you think that they would benefit from participating in this discussion.

Please also find the download link for the detailed programme outline at the bottom of this invite. Please confirm attendance with Ms. Eyra at eyra@asli.com.my or fax at 03 2093 3078 by Wednesday, 16th July.

With regards,
