For fans of environment-themed documentaries and short films, the 8th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) would be one festival you won’t want to miss this year.

Running for eight consecutive years, the KLEFF is the country’s first and longest serving environment-themed festival offering film screenings of award-winning stories from across the globe, fun and engaging workshops and talks on sustainable living and film making, an exhibition of close to 70 environmental NGOs and green businesses at the Green Market and an impressive lineup of performances by local musicians and bands.

“We have accepted more than 116 films this year from more than 30 countries. This year’s films combine stellar filmmaking, beautiful cinematography and compelling storytelling. KLEFF is now the largest film festival of its kind between the coasts and is often the only place you will be able to see these films. KLEFF celebrates the power of film to inspire, educate, and motivate audiences”, said Festival Director, Fadly Bakhtiar.

The festival presents thought-provoking films and dialogue that raises awareness of a wide-ranging collection of interconnected ecological, social and economic themes. More than 60 films will be screened over the Festival weekend (16-18th October), with multiple satellite screenings and community screenings organized in the next few months.

The KLEFF award ceremony, which aims to recognize amazing film makers and environmentalists with awards given in the following categories: Best Feature, Best Short, Best Documentary, Best Public Service Announcement (PSA), Best Wildlife Film, Best Animation and Jury Award.

“The KLEFF Award Ceremony is open to the public and guests to witness our national recognition to local and international film makers who are in the forefront of promoting environmental awareness and conservation to a global audience. This year, we will be seeing many of the film makers making their way to the festival,” added Fadly.

Each year, KLEFF draws top filmmakers, students, leading activists, social innovators and well-known adventurers to Publika Solaris. This year, the Festival is supported by Khazanah Nasional Berhad with Durian Asean as the official online radio station. In addition, DHL Express is also part of the festival as the official logistics partner, and Juice Works is the official drinks partner for the volunteers of the festival.

KLEFF is a free film festival and would not be possible without the generosity of partners and sponsors like Tanamera Tropical Spa Product, Publika, SCM, Han Chieng College, Point College and also the Indonesia Nature Film Society.
