2nd ISKL Eco-Schools Mini Conference

The 2nd ISKL Eco-Schools Mini-Conference to be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015. The event is open to high school (secondary) students and their teachers from schools in the KL area. The Mini Conference allows for the exchange of ideas and concerns and include parallel “green-storming” sessions with students leading students in brainstorming and action planning and, simultaneously, teachers leading teachers in organisational discussions, ideas and sharing. We hope it will be a relaxed and friendly way for schools to plan collaborative projects and also for all of us to network for a better community and world!

If you’re a student or teacher interested in environmental/sustainable projects consider joining us!

Community Recycling (ISKL Ampang)

Community Recycling (ISKL Ampang)

A once-a-month community based activity organised by the ISKL high school Earth Club and supported by our community recycling partner, Treat Every Environment Special (TrEES). Proceeds go to support our Earth Club environmental initiatives. The community recycling program is open to anyone in the community who would like to participate.

We accept the following items and happily keep them out of the landfill!

  • Plastic
  • Cardboard
  • Mixed Paper
  • Newspaper
  • Aluminium
  • Tin/Steel
  • Clothing donations
  • Juice/Milk cartons

Note:  Please take the time to clean, flatten and sort the items as best as you can. Though we gladly accept your recyclables, we appreciate your assistance in ensuring minimal exposure to dirty/unhygienic items. Sorry, we do not recycle glass at this time (but if you know of a company that does, please let us know!)

Green Cup Recycling School Challenge

Following our ISKL Eco-Schools Mini Conference on March 1st, the nine participating schools created an action plan for their schools by way of a recycling challenge. Using the Green Schools Alliance (www.greenschoolsalliance.org) format and their  Green Cup Recycling Challenge (http://greencupchallenge.net/recyclechallenge/index.html). During the week of April 21, 2014 we will be focusing on each participating school’s waste and recycling programs and inventorying them in a competitive format. The schools are also invited to create a video (2-3 minutes) of their awareness programs and recycling efforts. Earth Week

A week-long list of student and teacher organized activities intended for awareness of sustainable practices and support of sutatinability education. The week is intended to be a celebration of the Earth and a recognition of what humanity can do in support of a balanced lifestyle. The week highlights several speakers as well as small on-campus events, an ISKL Earth Hour (taking classes outside), uniform swap as well as a 5-day trip of our MS to different parts of Malaysia to explore and celebrate being out in nature!
