“Know nature, value nature and act for nature”
MY Garden Birdwatch is a non-profit project run by the Bird Conservation Council of the Malaysian Nature Society, sustained by volunteers of various backgrounds who have a soft spot for birds and their habitat.
Here is how to take part.
Identify a cozy corner in a garden nearby. This will be your survey station. For 30 minutes on the designated dates for MYGB each year, take stock of the bird life there.
Tip #1: Choose a site that you can easily return to next year, so that monitoring may be consistent.
During your survey, identify and count the birds that are perched, then jot it down. Newbies usually find the count sheet useful.
Enter your sightings at http://www.mygardenbirdwatch.com website. The online submission form is open for two weeks.
Tip #2: Morning and evening surveys are more rewarding, when the birds are really active.
Tip #3: Practice makes perfect. Brush up on your identification skills beforehand by paying attention to the birds around you. The survey will be a piece of cake when the time comes!

The only garden bird count in Malaysia returns for its eighth year. MY Garden Birdwatch is an annual bird count that aims to keep track of the population of garden birds. Also the count is used to raise awareness of birds as an indicator of the health of our natural environment.
Participating in this count is easy. You just need to follow the guidelines to count the bird on 17 or 18 of June. Then, proceed to our website, http://www.mygardenbirdwatch.com to enter the data.
For further information, please check the website, http://www.mygardenbirdwatch.com and any inquiries can be directed to mygardenbirdwatch@gmail.com.

An opportunity to see and identify common garden birds is scheduled at Taman Rimba Kiara, Taman Tun Dr Ismail (GPS: 3.140399, 101.631901, next to Plaza Vads). Registration begins at 7:00 am. The walk starts promptly at 7:15am-9:00am.
Enjoy a bit of birdwatching and see the birds that frequent the park. A simple bird walk will allow you to view the birds and practice recognising and identifying the birds by name. This is a helpful exercise leading up to the MYGB survey which occurs on the 17th and 18th June, 2017. After the walk you can visit our MYGB booth which is supported by the local Resident Association. Come sign up as a counter.
It is suggested that you wear suitable attire in dull colour, sunhat and bring along a notebook and pencil/pen. Also bring along some drinking water and a light snack. This event is suitable for the whole family and those interested in learning more about Garden Birds. For details and to register, please contact Izzat Fauzi @ 011-19130271 or email mygardenbirdwatch@gmail.com

Make a date with garden birds on 20 and/or 21 June 2015 and join us in counting the birds in your garden.
Thank you, counters, for your unwavering commitment since 2010. We look forward to your sightings in June.
New to MYGB? Welcome to citizen science! MY Garden Birdwatch is a joint effort by new, semi-serious and hardcore birdwatchers who devote 30 minutes every June to build a databank on garden bird populations in Malaysia.
Why a databank? Well, statistics can tell us a lot on bird population trends and offer insights into the fascinating world of birds. The more sites we have, the more solid the data generated.
