Pesticides Action Network Asia and the Pacific (PANAP) is an NGO lobbying against pesticides and creating awareness among the public regarding the harm caused to humans and the environment by pesticides
PANAP's vision is a society that is truly democratic and culturally diverse, based on the principles of food sovereignty, gender justice and environmental sustainability. PANAP has developed strong partnerships with peasants, agricultural workers, indigenous peoples, fisher folk, rural women's movements and other small food producers in the Asia-Pacific region. Guided by the strong leadership of these grassroots groups, PANAP has become a strong advocacy network with a firm Asian perspective.
Our mission lies in strengthening people’s movements to advance and assert food sovereignty, promote biodiversity-based ecological agriculture and the empowerment of rural women; protect people and the environment from highly hazardous pesticides; defend the rice heritage of Asia and resist the threats of corporate agriculture and neo-liberal globalization.
Currently, PANAP comprises 108 partner organizations in the Asia-Pacific region and links with other civil society and grassroots organizations, regionally and globally.

The next Evening Organic Farmers Market will be held on 21 June, 2015 from 4pm to 7pm. An important objective of these markets is to build a bond between the farmers and end users. We want to increase the confidence of the public in the authenticity of our organic products and build understanding of the challenges these small farmers face. We expect 19 participants, with fresh organic fruits and vegetables, free-range eggs, herbs & spices. There will also be vegan dishes such as nasi kerabu (some dishes are prepared using pottery cookware), peanut butter, mushroom growing kits, artistic performances, hand-made soap and other hand-made products and much more besides.
We started with these markets last year April in order to introduce healthy organic food to the community. Together, Real Food and the Farmers also hope to raise awareness of the environmental friendliness of organic farming, our food production without pesticides and other poisons. We want to protect our environment for future generations so that they too might enjoy good health through organic food.
These activities are organized by Real Food and the Straits Quay management. The Evening Organic Farmers Market will be held on the 3rd Sunday of every month. The venue will be at Real Food, Straits Quay. For further information, please contact Ms Carmen on 04-8908295.
Pesticides Action Network Asia Pacific (PANAP) will also be there so please drop by our booth to view our photo gallery of the PhotoVoice Workshop we conducted in Cameron Highlands with schoolchildren at an organic farm and pick up our Protect Our Children Against Toxic Pesticides Campaign materials for free! There will also be a Zee the Bee children’s storytelling session at Straits Quay at 5.30-6.00pm on Sunday.
